Child Height Predictor: Estimate Your Child's Adult Height
The Mid-Parent Height Formula
The simplest and most widely used estimate:
- Boys: (Father’s height + Mother’s height + 13 cm) / 2
- Girls: (Father’s height + Mother’s height – 13 cm) / 2
This gives a target height ±8.5 cm for boys and ±6 cm for girls (accounting for genetic variation).
Average Indian Height by Age

Factors That Affect Final Height
- Nutrition: Protein, calcium, vitamin D, and zinc are critical during growth years
- Sleep: Growth hormone peaks during deep sleep — children need 9–11 hours
- Physical activity: Weight-bearing exercise stimulates bone growth
- Chronic illness: Untreated thyroid issues or celiac disease can stunt growth
