Child Height Predictor: Estimate Your Child's Adult Height

The Mid-Parent Height Formula

The simplest and most widely used estimate:

  • Boys: (Father’s height + Mother’s height + 13 cm) / 2
  • Girls: (Father’s height + Mother’s height – 13 cm) / 2

This gives a target height ±8.5 cm for boys and ±6 cm for girls (accounting for genetic variation).

Factors That Affect Final Height

  • Nutrition: Protein, calcium, vitamin D, and zinc are critical during growth years
  • Sleep: Growth hormone peaks during deep sleep — children need 9–11 hours
  • Physical activity: Weight-bearing exercise stimulates bone growth
  • Chronic illness: Untreated thyroid issues or celiac disease can stunt growth
