Pixel Resolution Calculator
Calculate pixel density (PPI), total megapixels, and display aspect ratio. Compare screen resolutions across devices and monitors.
What is Pixel Resolution Calculator?
This pixel resolution calculator computes pixels per inch (PPI), total megapixels, and aspect ratio from screen dimensions and resolution. Compare display sharpness between phones, tablets, monitors, and TVs to make informed purchase decisions.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your Width, Height, Bit Depth, and other required values in the input fields
- Results are computed instantly as you enter or modify values — no need to click a button
- Review the computed output showing your pixel resolution results with a detailed breakdown
- Apply the result to your planning or decision-making, and revisit when your inputs change
How Pixel Resolution Calculator is Calculated
This calculator uses the formula: Megapixels = (Width × Height) / 1,000,000 | File Size = W × H × BPP / 8 / 1024². Where BPP = Bits per pixel (8/16/24/32) ; Print size = Pixels / DPI × 2.54 cm. DPI (dots per inch) determines print quality. 300 DPI is standard for photo printing. All calculations run entirely in your browser — no data is transmitted to any server.
Frequently Asked Questions
What PPI is considered good for a display?
Phones (held at 30cm): 300+ PPI (Apple Retina standard). Monitors (60cm): 100–150 PPI. TVs (3m): 40–80 PPI. Above 300 PPI, the human eye cannot distinguish individual pixels at normal viewing distance.
What is the difference between 1080p and 4K?
1080p (Full HD): 1920×1080 = 2.07 megapixels. 4K (UHD): 3840×2160 = 8.29 megapixels — exactly 4× more pixels. On a 27" monitor, 4K has 163 PPI vs 82 PPI for 1080p, making text and images noticeably sharper.
