How to Calculate EPF Maturity

  1. Enter your current Basic Salary + DA
  2. Enter your current age and expected retirement age
  3. The current EPF interest rate is pre-filled
  4. Click Calculate to see projected corpus, interest earned, and year-wise balance

How EPF Calculator is Calculated

Employee contributes 12% of Basic + DA. Employer contributes 12% (3.67% to EPF, 8.33% to EPS pension). EPF interest is compounded monthly at the government-declared rate (currently 8.25% for FY 2024-25).

Worked Example

Basic ₹30,000/month, current age 28, retirement at 60, 8.25% interest: Employee PF = ₹3,600/month, Employer EPF = ₹1,101/month. Estimated corpus at 60 ≈ ₹1.2–1.3 crore.

Common Use Cases

  • Retirement corpus estimation
  • Job switch PF transfer planning
  • Understanding CTC PF component
  • Comparing EPF vs voluntary PF (VPF)

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Withdrawing EPF on every job change — each withdrawal resets the compounding and costs you lakhs at retirement. Transfer your PF using the UAN portal instead.
  • Assuming employer's full 12% goes to EPF — 8.33% goes to EPS (pension scheme, capped at ₹15,000 salary). Only 3.67% goes to your EPF account.
  • Not updating your UAN and linking Aadhaar — this delays transfers and can cause account duplication.
  • Ignoring the tax on EPF contributions above ₹2.5 lakh/year — interest on employee contributions exceeding ₹2.5L is now taxable.
